Sennheiser MKE 200 - The Ultimate Microphone for Content Creators

You don't always need a DSLR camera to be a content creator. Even a smartphone with 4K resolution video recording makes for a great device for shooting videos. However, the only downside of a smartphone is its audio quality. This is exactly where the new Sennheiser MKE 200 comes handy.

The MKE 200 works on both DSLR cameras and smartphones. This microphone with its ultra-compact, ultralightweight, built-in shock absorption body, makes for a perfect companion for vloggers and hobbyist videographers.

Measuring at just 2.7" long and weighing only 48gms, the MKE 200 is an unobtrusive companion for your smartphone and DSLR vlogging set-up. It's so light that you will not even feel it there!

The MKE 200 comes packed with two cables, one cable is a standard 3.5mm TRS plug for your DSLR camera, while the other cable has a 3.5mm TRRS plug to allow direct connection to your smartphone. Although I wish it came with a Type-C to TRRS connector as well since I was using a phone without an audio jack and just the Type-C charging port. The super-cardioid polar pattern reduces sound from the sides and rear, allowing better performance at picking up the important sounds from in front of the camera.

What's in the box?

Verdict:

At roughly Rs. 5000/-, it's quite an economical option for vloggers looking for an audio recording device for their DSLR/mirrorless and smartphones set up. It might not have the range nor the maximum audio quality of a more expensive dedicated shotgun mic, however, it does pack enough power for any vlogging or close-range interviewing application.
